Pawn Ticket Trio : ウィキペディア英語版 | Pawn Ticket Trio
Pawn Ticket Trio is a jazz band based in Denver, Colorado. The group is self-categorized as playing "hack jazz", a style fused with rock structures and jazz stylings set to humorous lyrics and attention to solos. The group formed in late 2007 as an effort to bring the songs of guitarist John Lambert to a wider audience, and to serve as an experiment for a group of people who had always liked jazz in their own ways, but had never had a chance to play it. The band consists of founding members John Lambert on guitar, Bret Ahroon on bass, and Stephen Brooks on drums. Early in 2008 the band experimented with a young trumpet player by the name of Dan Madden. Shortly after a couple of live shows they added Mr. Madden to the band on a permanent basis. In 2009, Lambert and Ahroon asked Keith Larson to join the band on trombone, and Matt King was added to play the saxophone. They do however continue with the "trio" name as the band was initially incepted as a three piece. == History ==
Bret Ahroon had known John Lambert on and off for years as a regular at open-microphone venues around Denver, where the guitarist had fashioned a name for himself as "Johnny Monotone". Voicing a liking for the Lambert's songs, Ahroon talked Lambert into forming a band. The two rehearsed together as a duo until Ahroon brought in drummer Stephen "Tick-tock" Brooks. For the better part of a year the trio rehearsed (when it could) in apartment buildings, back rooms of clubs, and a once-a-week open-mic gig that helped them shape their style as well as their live music approach.
